At Girls on the Run, we are constantly inspired by the many ways our community shows up to support our mission. Whether you are coaching a team, cheering at a 5K, or making a financial contribution, you are helping girls across our community recognize their inner strength and limitless potential.
As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we want to share a tool that is becoming a favorite for many of our supporters: The Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).
What is a Donor-Advised Fund?
Think of a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as a dedicated "charitable savings account." It is a simple, flexible, and tax-smart way to manage your giving.
How It Works:

Contribute: You make a charitable contribution (cash, stock, or other assets) to a sponsoring organization.

Tax Benefit: You receive an immediate tax deduction the moment you put funds into the account.

Grow: While the money is in your DAF, it can be invested and grow tax-free, meaning you might have even more to give to your favorite causes later.

Grant: You then "advise" or recommend grants from that fund to nonprofits like Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin.
Why Donors Love DAFs
DAFs offer incredible flexibility. Many donors use them to "bundle" their giving in a high-income year to maximize tax savings, while still supporting GOTR with steady, reliable gifts over several years. Plus, it simplifies your life by keeping all your charitable tax receipts in one convenient place!
How to Support Girls on the Run via your DAF
If you already have a DAF through an institution like Madison Community Foundation, Fidelity Charitable, or Schwab Charitable, supporting our girls is incredibly simple:

Log In: Sign in to your DAF provider’s online portal.

Search: Look for our legal name: Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin.

Recommend: Choose your gift amount and submit.

We Receive: Your provider handles the rest, sending the funds directly to us so we can get more girls on the move!
Pro Tip: Many DAFs now allow you to set up recurring monthly or annual grants, providing sustained support that helps us plan for future seasons with confidence.
