  • Starting a team refers to offering the program to a group of 8-15 girls at a location or site near you. This team will be part of Girls on the Run of South Central WI.
  • Review the Site Info Packet, to learn more about us and starting a team
  • Designate a Site Liaison to serve as the program contact
  • Identify an outdoor practice space that is safe and accessible
  • Identify an indoor/covered space to be used in the event of severe weather
  • Identify 2 days a week to host 90 min practices for the season
  • Recruit 3-6 volunteer coaches (coaches must complete an application, background check and new coach training prior to the start of the season)
  • Recruit participants, 8-15 participants per team
  • After we've received your site application we'll review it and contact you with next steps
  • We are no longer accepting site applications for the Spring 2023 season. Please reach out to start a team for the Fall 2023 season!

Site Liaison Responsibilities

  • Champion the Girls on the Run program at your site and have fun!
  • Complete site application each season
  • Gain approval from site leadership in support of hosting GOTR
  • Identify safe, accessible outdoor space to facilitate practice
  • Identify indoor or covered space to be used in the event of severe weather
  • Identify practice days and times (two days per week for 90 min)
  • Assist in the recruitment of a coaching team (3-4 coaches)
  • Assist in the recruitment of participants through broadly publicized outreach
  • Understand the GOTR registration process and assist families when needed
  • Serve as the point of contact between GOTR, site, and coaches
  • The Site Liaison may also serve as a coach, if they choose to do so
