What a Day!
On Saturday, May 31st, we experienced everything that makes Girls on the Run so magical. Under clear blue skies and with hearts full of excitement, more than 2,700 participants crossed the finish line at our celebratory Spring 5K in Verona – including nearly 1,200 remarkable kids from 82 teams across South Central Wisconsin.
Whether it was their very first race or their sixth, every finisher crossed the line beaming with pride, cheered on by teammates, families, coaches, and an electrified crowd of supporters. The energy? Absolutely electric.
Even Bucky Badger couldn’t resist the fun – sporting festive Hawaiian gear and bringing extra cheer to the course in true Wisconsin style! And thanks to NBC15, the joy and inspiration of the day were beautifully captured in this short video clip.
Behind every confident step were the 360 incredible volunteer coaches who mentored and motivated their teams all season long, and the 190 superstar event-day volunteers who ensured everything ran like clockwork. From water stations and cheer squads to set-up crews and course marshals – you all brought the STAR POWER that made the day unforgettable.
Twenty years ago, Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin began with just 13 participants. And now? We’ve grown into a powerful movement rooted in confidence, connection, and community. That transformation is thanks to YOU – our supporters, our volunteers, and our families who believe in the power of every girl.
As we ride the high of this milestone season, we’re already looking ahead! Fall 2025 registration opens August 1st, and we’ll return with another joyful 5K celebration on Saturday, November 8th in Waunakee – presented by SSM Health.
Thank you for being part of this incredible season. Now it’s time to soak up the sunshine, carry this joy forward, and continue to champion the bold, joyful, and healthy girls who are running toward their dreams.
