Looking for a beginner-friendly way to build strength, prevent injury, and get your body ready for running season? Join us for a donation-based bootcamp led by Alex Cushman of Iron+Carbon Fitness—with all proceeds directly benefiting Girls on the Run South Central Wisconsin (GOTR SCWI).

This family-friendly class is perfect for moms, families, and anyone who wants to feel stronger, move better, and gain confidence in everyday life or on the run.

Meet the Coach: Alex Cushman

Alex Cushman is a passionate fitness professional with over a decade of experience helping people build strength and confidence. He holds a B.S. in Exercise Science, is Pre/Postnatal Certified, and specializes in small group training that empowers women and families to thrive.

As the founder of Iron+Carbon Fitness and co-founder of the Stoughton Run Club, Alex creates welcoming spaces where people of all ages can move, connect, and grow stronger together.

His philosophy is simple: Move Better. Train Longer. Live Stronger.

Q: What inspired you to host donation-based bootcamps for Girls on the Run?
A: I’ve been part of the running community for decades and want young individuals to experience the same lifelong benefits running has given me. Girls on the Run’s mission mirrors my own philosophy, so this partnership felt like a perfect fit.

Q: What can participants expect at the bootcamp?
A: A slower-paced, intentional session designed for all levels. You’ll learn functional strength movements that build stability, prevent injury, and make everyday life—and running—more enjoyable.

Q: Why is strength training so important for runners?
A: Running can expose weaknesses that lead to discomfort or injury. Strength training addresses imbalances, builds resilience, and makes running more sustainable and fun.

Q: How do these bootcamps support the community?
A: They help participants feel stronger and more confident while fostering local connections. Plus, the donations directly support Girls on the Run, meaning your workout has a ripple effect that empowers the next generation of girls.
