1. Can you tell us a little about the Junior League of Madison and your mission?
The Junior League of Madison is a group of women working together to make our community stronger. We focus on leadership, service, and building connections across Madison. Our mission is to advance women’s leadership through volunteer action, training, and partnerships that support the well-being of women and families. We believe that when women lead, the whole community grows.
2. What impact does your organization have in the Madison community?
The Junior League of Madison members volunteer across Dane County, support other local nonprofits, and help fill gaps where extra hands are needed. Our members plan short volunteer projects, partner with groups that focus on women and families, and raise funds that go right back into community work. We also focus on building strong leaders, which means the impact continues as our members take these skills into their workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods.
3. What is one project, initiative, or success story you’re especially proud of?
We are especially proud of our work bringing the Ronald McDonald House to Madison. Junior League members played a key role in the early effort to make it happen, and it continues to support families during some of their toughest moments. It reflects what we try to do in Madison: notice a need, bring people together, and help create something lasting.
4. Why is partnering with Girls on the Run important to you?
Girls on the Run matters to us because our missions are so closely aligned. We both care about giving girls support, confidence, and a safe space to grow. Partnering with Girls on the Run reminds us why we serve and why investing in girls and women creates real change in our community.
5. What inspires your members and volunteers to give their time and energy to community work?
Our members give their time because they care about Madison and want to be part of something bigger than themselves. They like rolling up their sleeves, learning new skills, and building real connections with people in our community. Many join Junior League during a move or a new stage of life, and they find a place where they can grow, meet new friends, and make a clear impact. That sense of purpose is what keeps them coming back.
6. How can people get involved with the Junior League of Madison?
People can get involved by joining as a member, attending a social event, or volunteering with us during the year. We welcome women who want to meet new people, build skills, and support Madison in a hands-on way. The easiest first step is to visit our website or follow us on social media, where we share upcoming socials, info sessions, and ways to connect. Applications for our next cohort are open!
