Girls on the Run Celebrates Our Largest-Ever 5K Run!

Girls on the Run of South Central Wisconsin’s 2023 Spring Season concluded on Saturday, June 3rd with our 5K Celebration at the beautiful Verona Area High School. There were miles of smiles and palpable joy as we came together to achieve a bold and courageous goal!

We are so proud of the 2,500 runners, walkers, and rollers who crossed the finish line (which we know is just the beginning!) Completing the 5K is a defining moment of our program when participants realize that even the seemingly impossible IS possible and they can achieve their dreams.

This spring was our biggest season on record serving 1,125 kids with over 325 volunteer coaches across 78 teams. We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to each and every person, organization, and community who helped make this historic season possible.

  • We are grateful to our coaches for giving so generously of their time and heart as positive role models for our GOTR participants, so they can develop the tools and skills to take with them into the future.
  • We are grateful to our sponsors for giving so generously of their financial and product resources to build a future in which all girls are free to boldly pursue their dreams.
  • We are grateful to our youth and families for sharing their expansive spirit with us, and for joining us on a journey to access joy, health and confidence through running.

Girls on the Run South Central Wisconsin is part of a national movement that has served 2.5 million girls in the US and Canada. Our local council has served over 20,000 participants in an eight county area since 2005. Girls on the Run envisions a world in which every girl is free to know and activate her limitless potential and boldly pursue her dreams.

We hope you can take a minute to enjoy photos and video clips reflecting the joy and determination experienced across our course that day. And if you are feeling especially inspired, we invite you to join us by clicking here to make a season-end gift today. Your investment gives more youth access to joy, health and confidence through running.
